What is your role
How long have you
worked at Carr's?
25 years. Some people at the Maldon Mill have been here for over 29 years. It’s a great place to work.
Describe your work
in 5 words...
Challenging, interesting and never dull!
How did you get
I started as a warehouse supervisor at Maldon in 1995 and progressed into production. I was made General Manager in 2012.
What does a normal day look like?
There is no normal day! I typically get to the mill at 6:30 am and start my day by walking the site to check how things have run overnight. After this, I can be involved in all areas of the site. One minute, I might be helping to support and guide the team during wheat intake, the next, I’ll be over at conditioning or milling, and then I may be needed at packing and delivery. Most important of all, I like to spend time helping the team at Maldon getting the right product in the right place at the right time for our customers each day.
What elements of
your job do you
enjoy the most?
The challenge of milling a consistent quality flour. At Carr’s, we believe the flour you use, should be the best for the job. So it’s great to be able to uphold this badge of quality and make sure we always deliver the cream of the crop to our customers.
What do you feel
makes Carr's unique?
The people. At the Maldon Mill, we have 14 people who have worked here for over 15 years, which is a testament to the community we have built here. There is nothing better than seeing the whole team working together towards the same goal. We genuinely all have a passion for perfection in milling and work very hard each day to blend our knowledge with pride and expertise into every bag of flour that we produce.
of working at Carr's?
I know I’m repeating myself but ‘The People’!
